In last week’s NFL betting trends article going into Week 4, I mentioned that there were five teams that were unbeaten against the spread. Well, after last week’s action, only one of these teams remains unbeaten and is now 4-0 ATS, depending on their closing line for Week 2.

Meanwhile, each of the six winless teams ATS going after three weeks failed to cover in Week 4. As for totals, one team continues to play in games that hit the over every game, while another’s have gone under the total four weeks in a row.

NFL Betting Trends: Best and Worst Teams Against the Spread

Betting records and stats are from Team Rankings, whose closing odds might differ from others.

After four weeks, the Los Angeles Rams are the only team in the NFL that has yet to lose a game against the spread. They infamously avoided this fate in Week 2 when Sean McVay elected to kick a field goal as time expired while down 10 points to the San Francisco 49ers.

They ended up losing the game by seven points, but the closing spread varied from 49ers -7 and -7.5, depending on the sportsbook.

The Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and Philadelphia Eagles were each previously unbeaten against the spread as well, but none of them covered last week. In fact, only the Eagles won outright, in a game that went to overtime in which they were 8.5-point home favorites.

The Cardinals (+14) had a chance to extend their covering streak to four games in a row when they got the ball back down 19 with 1:59 remaining, but they came up just short, turning the ball over on downs at the 49ers’ 15-yard line at the very end of the game.

Winless Against The Spread

Last week, the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints were the only winless teams ATS remaining, and after Week 4, that continues to be the case.

Of these teams, however, the Giants are the sole 0-4 team ATS, as they’re the only one that has yet to even have a push. This is a stark contrast from a year ago, when they were the best team at covering the spread.

NFL Betting Trends: Best and Worst Teams at Going Over the Point Total

After losing to the Broncos 31-28, the Bears remain the only team whose games have gone over the total every week this season. This is more an indictment of how bad their defense is, as they have allowed 34.3 PPG, second worst in the NFL.

For the New Orleans Saints, however, the under has hit in every one of their games this season by an average of 6.4 points per game. This is even despite the total for Saints games never closing at a number higher than 41.5 points so far this season.

For their upcoming matchup against the New England Patriots, the game total is currently at 40.5, which is the second lowest of the week.
