1) Miami Dolphins:
Since 2020, the Dolphins are the best against-the-spread (ATS) team when facing opponents that do NOT make the playoffs (19-9, 67.9%).
2) New York Giants:
Daniel Jones owns an 18-7 ATS record for his career on the road (6-1 last season), despite owning a 9-16 outright record in those 25 games.
3) Dallas Cowboys:
Dallas owns the best ATS record in December over the past three seasons (10-3 ATS).
4) Baltimore Ravens:
The Ravens have the best ATS record as an underdog over the last five seasons, and it’s not close: 17-3-1 (85%). In addition, they are 11-10 outright as an underdog.
5) Chicago Bears:
The Bears are the worst ATS over the past three seasons (19-30-1, 38.8%), a rate that is magnified when facing the rest of the NFC North (4-14 ATS, 22.2%).
6) Minnesota Vikings:
The Vikings are the worst ATS December team in the NFL over the past three seasons (3-9 ATS).
7) Buffalo Bills:
Despite having QB Josh Allen and a high-powered offense, the Bills rank 21st in over cash rate during those four seasons (45.3%). Even Houston Texans games have gone over more often.
8) Cincinnati Bengals:
With Joe Burrow as QB for the Bengals, they own the best road cover rate in the league (68%) over the last three seasons.
9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Last season, the Buccaneers became the fifth team this decade to fail to cover 75% of their games in a season.
10) New York Jets:
The last time Aaron Rodgers had a losing ATS record in September was 2016 (he is 10-3 ATS over the past four seasons).
11) Tennessee Titans:
The Titans are one of four teams (Chiefs, Steelers, and Ravens) in the NFL with an outright winning record over the past five seasons as an underdog (20-18).
12) New Orleans Saints:
The Saints are one of five teams (Chiefs, Bills, Vikings, and Bears) that have won 75% of their games as a favorite over the past five seasons.
13) Carolina Panthers:
The Panthers have been the worst ATS team in December over the past five seasons (6-12-1 ATS).
14) San Francisco 49ers:
During the Kyle Shanahan era (2017-23), the 49ers rank second in December cover rate (64.5%) and first in December over rate (63.3%).
15) Philadelphia Eagles:
Over the past decade, the team that lost the Super Bowl the season prior has covered just 44.1% of September games.
16) Los Angeles Rams:
The Rams own the best ATS record in December over the past five seasons (16-6 ATS).
17) Detroit Lions:
Over the past two seasons, the Lions own a league-best 76.5% cover rate at home (13-4).
18) Indianapolis Colts:
Over the past five seasons, no AFC team has a higher cover rate against the NFC than the Colts (66.7%, 14-7-1).
19) Las Vegas Raiders:
The Raiders were the seventh-best ATS team at home last season and the fifth-worst on the road.
20) Seattle Seahawks:
Over the past three seasons, the Seahawks are the fourth-best ATS team through October (63.6%). It’s after that when the problems occur … they rank 31st at 35.7%.
21) Los Angeles Chargers:
Since 2019, the under is 11-2 (84.6%) when the Chargers play in September.
22) Cleveland Browns:
Over the past five seasons, the Browns own the lowest cover rate when the game goes over the projected point total (14-25-1, 35.9%).
23) Kansas City Chiefs:
Just one of the past 11 Super Bowl champions had more games go over than under in the season following their title (2021 Buccaneers).
24) Jacksonville Jaguars:
The Jags covered eight of 15 games when the spread was under seven points after covering just three of 15 such games over the two seasons prior.
25) Green Bay Packers:
The Packers haven’t had a losing ATS season against the NFC North from 2019-2022 (62.5% divisional cover rate, third-best in the NFL).
26) Pittsburgh Steelers:
Over the past three seasons, the Steelers are a league-best 8-2 ATS in games with a closing total north of 45 points.
27) Atlanta Falcons:
The Falcons covered at a 52.9% clip last season, their best since 2016 (62.5%). They are seeking consecutive winning ATS seasons for the first time since covering at least half their games in seven straight seasons from 2006-12.
28) Denver Broncos:
Over the past two seasons, favorites are just 9-16 ATS when playing at Denver.
29) Houston Texans:
Over the past two seasons, the Texans have been favored just once, but they do hold a respectable 16-17-1 ATS mark (identical to that of the Eagles and Vikings over that stretch).
30) New England Patriots:
Mac Jones is 7-9 ATS at home during his career (overs: 9-7) and 9-6 on the road (overs: 6-9). Either fade them and play the over at home or back them and play the under on the road.
31) Washington Commanders:
The Commanders were the eighth-best team ATS outside of their division (6-4-1) but underachieved in the division (2-4).
32) Arizona Cardinals:
The Cardinals are the only team slated to be an underdog in all 17 games this season, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
